1. The Rosie’s Gaming Emporium in Dumfries will be the fifth Rosie’s location in Virginia and the first to open in Northern Virginia. Dumfries voters approved a ballot referendum in November 2019 to allow historical horse-race betting within the town limits.

The Virginia horse racing industry continues to gain momentum as the fourth Rosie’s Gaming Emporium location will open in Hampton as early as late October.

The center will feature 700 Historical Horse Racing terminals, a live simulcast betting area that will show up to 20 racetrack signals daily from around the country, a gift shop, fast casual restaurant and cocktail lounge.

The Rosie’s is conveniently located in the Power Plant Complex off I-64 at Exit 263, directly across the highway from the former Colonial Downs OTB that was open from 1998 – 2014. The Gaming Emporium is near the Bass Pro Shop and adjacent to the popular PRR bar.

Rosie’s locations are currently open in Richmond, Vinton and at the Colonial Downs track in New Kent. Though an exact opening date for the Hampton site is not set, plans are for a late October ribbon cutting. Dumfries, VA – January 8, 2021 – At a ceremonial outdoor and socially distanced ribbon cutting, Colonial Downs Group announced today that Rosie’s Gaming Emporium is now open in Dumfries, Va. Rosie’s, located in the Triangle Shopping Plaza convenient to Interstate 95, features 150 slots-like gaming machines, simulcast horse racing, restaurant and bar. At the event, Rosie’s displayed its commitment to community by donating $76,500 to five local charities; the Boys and Girls Club of Dumfries, the Prince William County Foundation, Paws for Purple Hearts, Kappa Lambda Chi military fraternity and Epsilon Sigma Boule Foundation, Inc.

Aaron Gomes, chief operating officer of Colonial Downs Group, stated, “It is very exciting to be opening our fifth Rosie’s in Virginia. Rosie’s in Dumfries will be open Sunday – Thursday from 8 am to 2 am and Friday and Saturday from 8am to 4 am. It will create more than 100 jobs in Dumfries and generate approximately $705,000 in annual tax revenue for the Town of Dumfries, increasing annual town revenue by approximately 20%.
